Michael Jones

 

Michael has been competing in national and provincial road cycling events since the age of 23. During this time he has podiumed at nationals & provincials in South Africa in both road and time trial cycling disciplines and in road at New Zealand nationals. He has had the privilege to represent New Zealand in the 2015 and 2016 UCI Grand Fondo World Amateur Cycling Championships.

During his years of racing at Elite level he was also studying and then later working full time, so he understands what is required to gain the most within limited time constraints.

Michael has undertaken Level 1 and 2 BikeNZ Cycling Coaching courses and uses the knowledge and 8 years of coaching experience, in conjunction with his training, racing and technical experience, to provide individualized training programmes.

 

John Rich

 

John has a solid academic background, holding a degree in recreation management, and a Masters of Applied Science with honours in recreation management from Lincoln University. He has also undertaken Level 1 and 2 BikeNZ Cycling Coaching courses. John has also been coaching cycling for 8 years, and competing in road cycling for over 20 years.

John currently competes at masters level and over the years has achieved good finishes at most of New Zealand’s better known cycling races. He also regularly competes in endurance running events. He has a particular interest in nutrition and sports psychology, and their value to athletes of any ability.

He currently coaches road cycling at all levels, including masters, juniors, male and female, and also works with Paralympic hand cyclists, providing individualized training programmes.
